Memorial website in the memory of your loved one
Sister Eula C. King Perry, daughter of the late Joe and Tempie Jordan King, was born in Bullock County, Alabama, on December 8, 1921. She received her educational and spiritual development in Bullock County and remained there until October 15, 1944, when she became the bride of Louis A. Perry, Sr. The newlyweds made their home in Columbus, Georgia, and became the proud parents of six children.

During her marriage, she maintained her membership at Hardaway African Methodist Episcopal Church (Bullock County), but attended and supported Gethsemane Baptist Church (Columbus) as a devout member of the Vocal Choir for several years. Upon the death of her husband in April 1965, she transferred her membership to St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church (Columbus), and took on the challenge of being a single parent to her underage children. Always a proud and independent woman, she never received public assistance in any form, and taught her children the importance of being self-sufficient.

A woman of God, she was a devoted member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served on the Steward Board, Stewardess Board and Usher Board. She was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, Lay Organization on the local and Conference levels, Women’s Missionary Society, and was a founding member of the Gospel Choir. She supported the Youth Department, Vacation Bible School and several other organizations in the church.

A beautiful and gracious lady, Sis. Perry was a cosmetic salesperson for Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Lowe’s branch of Fuller Products Company and received awards as “Top Salesperson” on several occasions. Later, she was employed at Fieldcrest Mills for more than 20 years. Her true passion was sewing, a natural, creative talent enhanced and encouraged by her mother, an avid seamstress. Sister Perry has tailor-made garments for her children, grandchildren, relatives and many others. Her talent ran the gamut from a simple seam repair to an ornate wedding gown; no sewing task was too complex for her.

Sister Perry began experiencing health-related problems in 2001 and moved in with her daughter, Tempye. For the past few years, Bessie and Ronald Mizer in Florida, Minnie and George Moore, in Savannah, and Jean and Charles Martin in Atlanta have alternately cared for her in their homes. The members of her sons-in-law’s A.M.E. churches in Georgia and Florida: Roberts Mt. Pisgah, Jacksonville; St. Paul, Orlando; Allen Chapel, Plant City; St. Luke, Tampa, and St. Philip Monumental, Savannah have come to know and love her.

Sister Perry answered God’s call on Saturday, January 13, 2007, at Emory University Hospital, Decatur (Atlanta), Georgia. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. She leaves to cherish her sweet, sweet spirit and loving memory six children, Daisy Belt, Gloria Jean (Charles) Martin, Louis A. (Debbie) Perry, Bessie (Ronald) Mizer, Minnie (George A.) Moore, and Tempye (Ramon) Gonzalez; two foster children, Robert Samuel and Sharon Samuel; 17 grandchildren, Samantha (Michael) Lynch, Anjanette "Lisa" (Marcel) Elligan, Louis Alexander III (Buffy) Perry, Jeremy (Tronda) Perry, Tatanisha "Tesa" (Steve) Skelton, Tameika "Tami" Moore, Mosi Summerall, Deanna "Terri" Herring, Timothy, Peli (Robert) Bortei-doku, Kevin (Ciara) Moore, Tabitha "Nicki" Bradford; 26 great-grandchildren, Chloe Lynch, Kristy Lynch, Michael Lynch, Gabrielle Latimore, Xavier Perry, Jaelynn Perry, Deatrick "Trey" Herring, Carlton "Dre" Herring, Tatiana Moore, Lauryn Moore, Christopher Moore, Gia Bortei-doku; brother/best friend, K. S. (Marjorie) King, brothers Julius King, L. W. (Dollie) King, Reverend E. X. (Jean) King, and Zemar (Mattie) King; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, special friend, Mrs. Gladys Tarver, the St. Paul A.M.E. Church family and friends.

She was affectionately called Na-Na and had a fun-loving and gentle spirit. Full of wisdom and virtue, she shall be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
